Metsӓ Tissue will build a new toilet paper factory in Yorkshire, UK

Metsӓ Tissue announced the construction of an advanced toilet paper factory in Gul, Dongli Ding, Yorkshire, UK, with a planned production capacity of 240000 t/a. It will be built in several stages over the next decade.

This new factory will cost hundreds of millions of pounds and use native wood pulp from sustainably managed Nordic forests as the main raw material. After completion, it will become the largest household paper factory in the UK. At present, up to 45% of toilet paper products in the UK and Ireland rely on imports. After the factory is built, it will significantly reduce the import volume of household paper in the UK and Ireland, increase the self-sufficiency rate of household paper products in the UK by more than 30%, and reduce dependence on imports, which will also help reduce the carbon footprint of products.

The new factory will adopt sustainable production technology to build an efficient, modern, and environmentally friendly factory. Metsӓ Tissue Company attaches great importance to sustainable development and aims to achieve a net zero society by 2030 by using raw materials that do not use fossil fuels for all products. In addition, the company aims to operate all factories (including the newly built Gul factory) without using fossil fuels by 2030.
