Natural hygiene raw materials from Planera UK
Planera, based in the UK, has developed a flushable sanitary napkin made of cellulose. The sanitary napkins, branded Fluus (a hybrid of "flush us"), feature the new Flushtec technology, developed and owned by Planera, which is patent pending.
Fluus is a unique blend of biodegradable polymers, including fluff pulp, absorbent materials and water-soluble membranes, which combine perfectly with carboxymethyl cellulose (CMC), which rapidly absorbs and locks in menstrual blood, and is 100% biodegradable.
Planera chose cellulosic fibers because they are easier to obtain than natural fibers such as cotton and hemp. SAP based adhesive does not contain acrylic resin, so it is unique to Fluus. "Fluus is the only disposable sanitary napkin on the market that does not use hot melt adhesive, so it does not produce microplastics," said Dr. Ahn.
