Suzano Paper raises short-fiber pulp prices
Suzano Paper, the world's largest pulp manufacturer in Brazil, recently announced that it will raise the price of short-fiber pulp made from eucalyptus by $29 to $50 per ton from September.
Suzano Paper also announced that from September, the price of short-fiber pulp exported to Asia will increase by $20 per ton, and the price of pulp exported to Europe and the Americas will increase by $50 per ton.
It is said that this is the first price increase of the company's short-fiber pulp exported to Europe and the Americas in the past year, but the price of short-fiber pulp exported to Asia is the third consecutive increase.
European short-fibre pulp prices continued to fall in the latest week and are close to an eight-year low, according to StoneX, the derivatives broker. The "spread" between long-fiber pulp and short-fiber pulp in the European market is $358 per ton, a record high, and the "spread" in China is about $126.
StoneX noted that there are multiple signs that the strong downtrend in bleached hardwood sulphate pulp (BHKP) in Europe is coming to an end.
